KoolShade is often used as a wind/rain screen. It has a low wind resistance (24.5kg/m2) at windspeeds of 96kph and has been tested in windspeeds of 224kph. It is eminently suitable for use on high rise buildings and those in exposed locations. It is currently installed on the Mirabella V (the biggest sloop in the world) as protection against the elements.
As the screens are made of corrosion resistant bronze alloy and coated with polyester, KoolShade is an ideal product to also withstand extreme marine conditions.
As an indication of KoolShade's durability in 1978 a tornado hit Indianapolis, with winds exceeding 160kph. The City Council Complex, which is protected by KoolShade suffered no damage while the adjacent building had 29 broken windows and spandrels.
