Direct mount
This is the simplest and least expensive method but it is the most difficult when considering cleaning of the glass. If you direct mount KoolShade it will be necessary to use tools each time to remove the panels when cleaning the glass. The wing clip method is a good alternative but again, the panel is removed from the window and if the person removing the panel is not properly trained he/she might replace the panel in a backward position. This method is the only real option for arched windows.
Sliding track
This is the most popular system for continuous glass, windows, or storefront systems. A continuous top and bottom track is installed above and below or directly on the window system. Each window section usually has one screen which hangs in the top track from a pair of wheels mounted to the top corners of the screen. To clean the glass simply slide the screen left or right, clean the glass, and slide the Koolshade panel back into place. The sliding tracks can also be installed vertically so that the koolshade screens slide up and down rather than left to right.
Hinged
This is a very popular method for installing KoolShade on individual window openings. The KoolShade panel need never be removed which means that they are never reinstalled backward. To open for glass cleaning simply pull the two spring loaded plungers and lift the screen. The screen will pivot at the hinges and allow you to get behind the screen for cleaning. To close, simply pivot the screen back in place and push the spring loaded plungers back into the striker plate. The preferred method is a top hinged panel but side hinged can work well also.
Further options
As KoolShade is not mechanised, it can be installed in any way that the architect feels would benefit the building the most.
In Middlesex University UK, KoolShade is installed 1m from the window using an independent structure to support it, occupants of the building now enjoy a walkway in-between the window and the KoolShade installation.
KoolShade has also been installed using nautical technology where the screens are held in place using metal wires held under tension.
Currently a hydraulic vertical hinged application is being designed so that each window will be covered by one large screen which can easily be manoeuvred when the windows need to be cleaned.
