Since 1766 Christie’s have been the byword for excellence when it comes to fine art auctions. Over the years countless millions of pounds worth of the world’s most famous paintings and artefacts have changed hands in this prestigious London Auction House on Old Brompton Road.
As part of a conversion and refurbishment project KoolShade was chosen to treat the Southern slope of an existing glass roof monitor to prevent solar heat gain in the picture gallery below. As a secondary benefit, the KoolShade also stops the sun’s ultraviolet rays from damaging the fine works of art.
Christie's is a listed building and it was deemed that KoolShade would be an elegant solution that would blend in well with the roof monitor structure.
Unique concealed fixings were designed to hold the system discreetly onto the old glazing mullions. Both SHH Architects and Christie's have expressed their satisfaction with the performance of the system.
